Description
The book Al-Iqna’ li Talib Al-Intifa’, by scholar Musa Al-Hajjawi, a major work of Hanbali jurisprudence and part of the collection of the Abdul-Aziz Al-Babtain Library in Kuwait. The document in question appears on the last page of the manuscript and contains the handwriting of Mawla Nematullah, who completed it on 25 Rabi’ Al-Thani 1174 AH.
Deeds
An endowment deed written by Ali Bin Fawzan Al-Samit, stating the following:
“Praise be to Allah alone. Ali Bin Fawzan Al-Samit has endowed this book to students of knowledge and placed it under the supervision of his brother, Jasir, may Allah forgive them both as well as all Muslims. May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon Sayyiduna Muhammad.”
A comparison deed stating the following:
“Praise be to Allah, He who is worthy of all praise, and may peace and blessings be upon Sayyiduna Muhammad—His Messenger and Servant—and upon his family and his Companions who fulfilled their promise to him. A comparison of this honorable copy of the text of Al-Iqna’ has been completed to the best of my ability, against three copies—one of which includes the handwriting of the author (the copy belonging to our Master and Sheikh, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Fairouz)—as has a review of problem-areas in the explanation by its owner, who is but a humble student in comparison with the knowledgeable scholars, he who is in need of his Almighty Lord’s forgiveness, Saleh Bin Saif Bin Hamad Bin Muhammad Al-Ateeqi (Al-Atiqi) Al-Hanbali, may Allah forgive him and his ancestors with His grace and generosity. Amen. [The review] took place over the course of [several] sessions, the last of which took place on 6 Jumada Al-Thani 1213 AH.”
Commentary
This work, which was to compare and review the text of Al-Iqna’, is perhaps one of Sheikh Saleh Bin Saif Al-Ateeqi’s most important works still in existence, may Allah have mercy on him (other than his poems, which appear in his biography). What he mentioned regarding three other copies being used for comparison points to the size of the job as well as to the great precision with which it was performed, making this copy particularly unique.
